JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria out; NTA confirms: only two attempts

National Testing Agency has announced the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains 2022) eligibility criteria on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA is also expected to release JEE Mains 2022 exam date soon and schedule by next week. This year, engineering aspirants will get only two attempts instead of four.

NTA has updated the official website of JEE Main 2022. JEE Main 2022 registration is also expected to start soon. NTA has confirmed that JEE Mains 2022 will have only two attempts. JEE Main 2022 consists of two papers. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programs BE or BTech in NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs), institutes, or universities funded/recognized by the participating State Governments.
JEE Mains 2022: Students will get only 2 attempts
As per the reports, NTA has decided to conduct the exam in the months of April and May. NTA has also announced the benefits of multiple attempts in JEE Main 2022 on the official website. Like last year, candidates will be able to appear for the exam multiple times to improve their scores.
“In the first attempt, students will get first-hand experience of taking the exam and will know their mistakes which they can rectify while attempting the second time. This will reduce the chances of dropping a year and the dropper will not have to waste a whole year,” the NTA said.
“A candidate need not appear in both the sessions. However, if a candidate appears in more than one session, his/her best score in JEE (Main) – 2022 NTA score will be considered for the preparation of merit list/ranking,” according to the official website.
JEE Mains 2022: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must note that there is no age limit to appear in JEE Mains 2022. Candidates who have passed class 12/equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or can appear in 2022 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2022. examination. However, candidates may need to fulfill the age criteria of the institute(s) in which they are willing to take admission.
- Only those candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or who are appearing in class 12 in 2022 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2022.
- Candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination on or before 2019 as well as appearing in such examination on or after 2023 are not eligible to appear in JEE Mains 2022.
